Dear Dental Professional,

Over the past decade a great deal of misunderstanding has occurred pertaining to the tooth bleaching process and the bleaching materials available. Dental magazines contain ad after ad luring you and your assistants to purchase their product over the competition - with minimal basic information provided to compel you. That is the world of marketing - to direct you via omission or somatic subterfuge.

By now you know that bleaching teeth is all about 1) concentration, 2) rate of degradation and 3) time; which is tertiary due to the rapid degradation of the oxidizing agent. Approximately 50% of all active ingredients in all major brands is used up in 30 minutes.(1) So time spent by the patient after 30 minutes has vastly diminishing efficacy.

It makes total sense to honor your patient's precious time and to give them this new short time treatment option.

Our product has 50% to 100% greater strength than those you are using presently, with subsequently greater whitening predictability and enhanced patient benefit due to Lustredent's "timeless patient compliance" short term treatment.

Here's the final salient point - whether the patient bleaches with 15, 20, 22 or 30%, pulpal sensitivity is not increased. Exposed dentin is the only reason for pulpal sensitivity and, that sensitivity is just that. There is no gradient ratio of discomfort. 34% of all dentists in the April 1997 CRA Survey reported pulpal sensitivity to all concentrations of all major brands. In the past 8 years hundreds of studies, including safety, efficacy, enamel hardness, pulpal degeneration, enamel dissolution, and carbamide peroxide vs. hydrogen peroxide, carbamide peroxide bleaching registers superior and safe. The bleaching tray is trimmed to the gingival margin. The dosage is designed to give a thin complete coat over the enamel surface, resulting in maximum utilization of gel with minimum gel being swallowed, an additional health safety measure.

Use YOUR common dental sense, mix it with the information available from Rella and Gordon Christensen's "Clinical Research Associates" Newsletter and Van Haywood's "Niteguard Bleaching". NOW, filter in these facts acquired in the past few years.

High concentrations bleach faster.(2,3)
30 minute treatments are optimal.(3)
On the average (of 13 major brands), 50% of the active ingredient is depleted in 30 minutes and 70% is depleted in 60 minutes.(3)
Carbamide peroxide bleaching has less fadeback and fewer side effects than that of hydrogen peroxide.(3)
There is no evidence that shows higher concentrations of carbamide peroxide (i.e. 20% to 30%) elicit more pulpal sensitivity than lower concentrations (10% to 16%) - dentin exposure elicits sensitivity! (2,4)
There is no good reason to extend bleaching trays onto soft tissue - scalloping takes only minutes.(1,5)
The three variables in tooth bleaching are: Time, Concentration, and Rate of Decomposition.(3)
Higher concentrations shorten bleaching times, which directly bolsters patient compliance - rapid noticeable change incites behavior encouragement. (4)
Bleaching for a minimal amount of time offers an extra measure of safety. (5)
Lasers, hot lamps and cold lamps add flair. BUT the cost is higher to bleach and leaves no capacity to treat fadeback, except for expensive treatment chairside. (3)
Scanning electron microscope studies of enamel surfaces treated with carbamide peroxide bleaching agents have shown little or no change in morphology. (6)
The micro-hardness of bleached enamel is similar to that of untreated enamel. (7)
Dentists overwhelmingly prefer carbamide peroxide over hydrogen peroxide.
Water-based products decrease dehydration - and - short-time bleaching hastens rehydration.

If you give your patient the option of the "low and slow" techniques verses a "high and fast" technique, the vast majority of informed patients will choose high concentration - short treatment time. Your patient's time is precious. High concentration at home bleaching gives your office more predictable results which eliminates office calls over questionable bleaching results due to lower concentration, at no additional cost to your office. Save your patients time, get a more predictable, whiter, brighter smile for your patients!

Our product is proven! It has been tested on over 1,200 patients with exceptional results. You can only gain by having our patented product available for your patients. Lustredent is guaranteed to get the predictable tooth whitening you want - it just makes "cents" to make Lustredent your informed choice for tooth bleaching.

Remember - with Lustredent you get no greater pulpal sensitivity , faster results, happier patients, competitive pricing, and more active ingredient (carbamide peroxide has been used safely by Dentists for over 50 years). All our product can do is help YOU!
